From 1st June 2020 the Carnegie Dunfermline and Hero Fund Trust (governing body of the Andrew Carnegie Birthplace Museum) will welcome the first new Chief Executive in over sixteen years.
Gillian Taylor is joining the Trust from Fife Council where she has been working as the Area Manager for Dunfermline. Born and brought up in the Dunfermline area, Gillian has developed a deep interest in and admiration of the work of the Trust over the years, and whilst with Fife Council has worked on a number of partnership projects.
On her appointment Gillian said “I am absolutely delighted to have been appointed as the new Chief Executive of the Carnegie Dunfermline and Hero Fund Trust. It is such an honour to continue the Andrew Carnegie legacy and I very much look forward to working with the Trustees as we move forward.”
Gillian is taking over the role of Chief Executive from Nora Rundell who had announced last year that she would be retiring.
Nora came to the Trust at the beginning of 2004 and has seen many changes in that time. Working with a total of ten different Chairs and a broad range of Trustees she has been instrumental in the removal of the Trust to custom built headquarters on the edge of Pittencrieff Park, many enhancements to the Park and Pavilion, several local Heritage Lottery Fund projects, the bringing of International Carnegie events to Scotland and Dunfermline, and the growth in the scope and profile of the Andrew Carnegie Birthplace Museum.
Fiona Robertson, who took over as Chair from Ian Wilson at the AGM on 30 April said of this significant milestone in the Trust’s journey: “We are very sad to see Nora leaving us and wish her a long and fulfilling retirement which she richly deserves after her successful time in office with the Carnegie Dunfermline and Hero Fund Trusts. However my fellow Trustees and I are very excited to welcome Gillian Taylor who we believe will be a very fitting successor to Nora.”
