'Wanderings with a Camera in Scotland'

Erskine Beveridge Travelling Photographic Exhibition from the Royal Commission on Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland (RCAHMS)

The photographs in this travelling exhibition from the Royal Commission on Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland (RCAHMS) are the work of Erskine Beveridge (1851-1920), the wealthy owner of a Dunfermline linen company and very fine amateur photographer.

Taken between 1880 and 1919, these stunning images capture Scotland on the brink of major social and economic change. From black houses in the Western Isles to busy harbour views in Fife, they convey an accurate and fascinating record of past times.

An excellent publication entitled ‘Wanderings with a Camera in Scotland’ by RCAHMS Head of Collections, Lesley Ferguson accompanies the exhibition and will be on sale in the Museum Shop (price £25).
